MEMBEARS
Matt Bauman '10
Baritone/Bass
Bio: Matt is a bari/bass originally from Melville, NY (Long Island). Some of his favorite things include ivy room falafels, reruns of the Price is Right, Sister Act 2 and reliving memories of past spring break tours with the Bears (especially the ever-popular "Firedrill!" and the illustrious Monkland lady). He is currently studying Theatre Arts (and possibly Psychology as well), so look out for him on a forthcoming episode of MTV's "True Life: I Live in a Cardboard Box."
Mark Brown II '09
All Parts
Bio: Mark Brown II is from Warsaw, Virginia where the high school is one hallway in front of a cornfield - no lie! He is majoring in Theatre Arts and Ethnic Studies and hopes one day to rule the world - one student at a time. He doesn't like to limit himself in voice part so you choose one - tenor, baritone or bass? Time will only tell . . .
Galen Cho '11
Bass
Bio: Galen Cho (namely G-Cho) is a bass from Daejeon, South Korea and is studying Applied Mathematics and Economics. His claim to fame is turning into a grizzly Bear during one of our songs, as Galen is, in fact, the first freshman ever to do this.
Kyle Dacuyan '11
Tenor
Bio: Kyle is a tenor from from Sterling, VA concentrating in Lit Arts. His favorite things in life are orange juice, newly ironed clothes and bargain deals at Crate & Barrel. (Legit: why doesn't Brown offer a concentration in Domesticity?) When he is not at rehearsal, he's probably watching old episodes of Degrassi or eating at Phonatic. He has worn suspenders through three stages of his life: as an awkward elementary school child, during a seriously unfortunate Hot Topic phase, and now as a Bear.
Brendan DeWolf '13
Baritone
Bio: Brendan is a baritone/bass who traveled many hours overseas to Brown from the lovely town of Merrimac, Massachusetts. At any given point one may find him running in the rain, eating copious amounts of chunky (there is no room for debate) peanut butter and wheat thins, or singing radio jingles in falsetto. One day Brendan aspires to overcome his allergy to cats solely through will power, because practice makes perfect.
Mike DiIorio '12
Tenor I
Bio: Mike is a tenor one that has no problem handling the most girly of parts. He hails from Watchung, New Jersey and is a potential Neuroscience and pre-veterinarian concentrator. Mike enjoys working out for the babes, remembering to grease the waffle makers in the VDUB, and being Tom Waits' biggest fan
Ben Freeman '13
Tenor I
Bio: Ben Freeman (B. Free) is a tenor from the San Francisco Bay Area. An avid toothbrusher, he has found being a poser to be the surest way to find friends (for reference, his first college paper included the phrases "international commercial ascendancy," "mimetic faculties," and "mythology of the transformative power of the brand"). He is quite popular among three-year olds, wrote a lot of really bad poetry in high school, and is what is colloquially referred to as a "hot mess."
Bart Johnsen-Harris '12
Bass/Percussion
Bio: Bart is a Bari/Bass and beatboxer Bear from Cranston, RI (about 5 miles away from Providence), and went to the Wheeler School (about 2 streets over from the Brown campus). The climate change has been difficult for him to handle, being accustomed to a tundra habitat, and he takes it out on salmon and whatever else it is that Bears eat. He has skillz in popping and locking, plays flute, and likes to settle disputes via duel.
Seth Kadish 'GS
Bass
Bio: Seth Kadish is a low-singing bass from Portland, OREGON (not that one in Maine) and is currently a graduate student in Brown’s Geological Sciences Department. Despite being the oldest member of the group, Seth still gets asked if he’s old enough to sit in the exit row on airplanes.
Ari Rodriguez '13
Tenor II
Bio: Ari is a tenor from Delmar, New York who has no trouble sleeping in even the most uncomfortable places and isn't very good with money. He doesn't believe in concentrating, but does enjoy thinking about physics and writing plays. From a very young age, Ari has detested fizzy drinks.
Dustin Sposato '10
Tenor I
Bio: Dustin is a T1 originally from Pittsfield, ME and is studying International Relations. He enjoys sandals, singing RENT (for serious, NOT a joke) and eating peanut butter from the jar. He is a red head.
Lee Taglin '10
Baritenor
Bio: Lee Taglin is a baritenor from the long and strong island. Lee has many loves, including suspenders, fun times, and a fine peanut butter chocolate milkshake from Johnny Rockets. He is concentrating very hard in economics and theater arts, and is wondering the same thing you are. How do those things have anything to do with each other?
Jeff Weinreb '12
Baritone
Bio: Jeff is a baritone from West Hartford, CT. His interests include singing, guitar, snowboarding and awkward social situations. His favorite color is blue and maybe green. Jeff is a potential Bio/Neuro concentrator and is rarely late.
Michael Wharton '12
Baritone/Bass
Bio: The new tallest member of the group, Mike Wharton is a bass/baritone (with a little bit of perc and T2 sprinkled in) from Needham, MA. An avid Boston sports fan, he also enjoys opera. He gets confused because there are now three Mikes in the group. Mike doesn't really know his concentration yet and gets self-conscious when writing about himself in the third person.
Mike Williams '10
Baritenor
Bio: Mike is a baritenor born and raised in Natick, MA, home of the largest commercial mall in New England. He is concentrating in Theatre Arts and Education Studies. Some of the group likes to think that Mike joined to sing and have fun, but they are sorely mistaken. He joined because he hates belts, and suspenders were the perfect replacement.
Eric Young '13
Bass
Bio: Eric is a bass from Arlington, Virginia interested in studying the humanities. He loves rolling down hills, climbing trees, midnight swims, and keeping his elbow skin moisturized. While he adores Brown University, Providence weather makes all of these things difficult. When he isn't singing, he enjoys beekeeping and volunteering in the Invertebrate House at the National Zoo. Sometimes he says his favorite cephalopod is the nautilus, sometimes he says it is the cuttlefish... really he just loves them both.
